Principal's Message

Happy New Year to everyone in the Cedarbrae Community.  I trust 2012 will be a good year!

Thank you to each class as we finished up 2011 with our Celebration Assembly.  It was great to see students participate in the assembly, and fun to see vreative videos! Thank you to Ms. Colet for organizing the Drama Club, and thank you to Madame Brohman for co-ordinating the assembly.

2012 kicks off with a "Community Breakfast" on Friday January 13th.  This come on out and meet others in the community.  Food and coffee will be ready to go by 7:07 AM - in time to catch a bite to eat before heading off to work.  This is free - we just want to see your face and start off 2012 with food, frineds, and community! Thank you to Jeremy  to helping to organize this event.

As part of our bullying prevention plan, a representative from the John Howard Society is visiting each class each week for five consecutive weeks. We look forward to having common language to add to our positive school culture.

Together, we DO make a difference!

Mark McMath
Principal

Pizza & Pita Ordering routine (Grades 1 to 6 only.  Kindergarten classes will not change their routine.)

  • Parent volunteer to set-up in the Gym around 8:40 AM
  • Students at Breakfast Club order their pizza and pitas at the “Pizza & Pita Order Desk” in the gym by Door D.
  • Students arriving to school may proceed to the “Order Desk” via the Door D, to place their order.  Once the order has been place, they proceed back outside. Parents may either accompany their child to the order desk, or place an order without their child.
  • Orders will be taken until 9:10 AM. Late orders may be accepted.  Those students ordering late should come to the main foyer to place their late order.
  • When students order pizza, they will receive an orange card for each piece of Cheese piece, and a brown card for each pepperoni piece ordered.
  • The volunteer will track orders on class lists.

Pizza Distribution (Grade 1 – 6) Kindergarten classes will remain the same.

  • Students will proceed to Room 8 to receive their pizza.
  • There will be one line for cheese pizza, and one line for pepperoni.
  • Once students receive their pizza, they return to their appropriate classroom.
  • If students accidently loose their card, they ask the volunteer for help.  The volunteer will have the class lists of orders to help in this type of situation.

Medieval Feast
In Mrs.Wagner’s Grade Four Class

On February the 16th there is going to be a Medieval Feast
with Queen Wagner and King McMath.
There will be a knighting ceremony and the squires
will become knights. Everyone will be in costume as a
person from the Medieval Society. During the meal,
some of the entertainers from the middle ages
will be doing a juggling act or dancing and other festivities.
They will all be wearing costumes they made from
old clothes or any felt.

T’will be the feast of all feasts!

Dear Community People,

Are you well, lades or lasses?

I have some important news to tell you, our entire grade 4 class is having a ...... MEDIEVAL FEAST! There will be lades and  lasses dressing up as someone from the medieval times. For example, I will be a doctor  that entertains and helps people. We will be having lots to eat so let the feast begin but before we eat there will be squires. Now you are probably wondering what are squires? Well, that's simple squires are people that become knights. First you are a page then a squire and when you are ready that's when you become a knight. But before you become a knight there will be a ceremony. This is where the squire has to kneel and say a pledge. After this it depends on your family status. If you are royal the king will dubb on the shoulder 3 times with a sword. If you are not royal your father will dubb you on the shoulder 3 times. One last thing, if you are a peasant i would not do anything wrong or you will be sent to the DUNGEON or it could be OFF WITH YOUR HEAD!!!

GlenbriarLogo.jpg
Thank you to Glenbriar Technologies for their generous donation to the school.  We will use the money from the donation to buy a laptop computer for students to use throughout the school.

wilmot.jpg
Thank you also to Wilmot Technologies for their support of our students!  Students are meeting greater success in their written work when using laptop computers.  As one student commented, "Since I have a learning disability, I get a laptop to help me with my writing.  I feel that people care about me.  I feel special!  Thank you for helping me learn!!!"
